How the StyleFlex assessment works
StyleFlex measures how you prefer to communicate, not how good you are at it. It takes about 10 minutes and has 44 questions. There are no right answers and no style is better than another.
Two dimensions
Every style comes from two everyday preferences.
Pace: do you tend to move briskly (decide fast, think out loud) or deliberately (think first, decide carefully)?
Focus: do you tend to lead with the task (results, facts, plans) or with people (relationships, feelings, harmony)?
Four styles
Put the two together and you get four styles. Direct is brisk and task focused. Spirited is brisk and people focused. Steady is deliberate and people focused. Precise is deliberate and task focused. Everyone uses all four. Your lead style is the one you reach for first.
The three kinds of questions
- 32 statements you rate from 1 (not like me) to 5 (very like me). Half measure pace and half measure focus, and some are worded in reverse so the result does not depend on agreeing with everything.
- 8 sets of four options where you pick the one most like you and the one least like you. Choosing between good options shows what you reach for when you cannot do everything.
- 4 questions about how you act under pressure, since many people shift when stress rises.
How your result is calculated
Your answers become two scores, one for pace and one for focus. Where those two land on the wheel gives your lead style. Your secondary style is the next closest, and your biggest stretch is the style opposite your lead.
Your style mix shows how much you draw on each of the four; longer bars are styles you use more naturally.
Special results
Flexible means your scores sit near the center of the wheel, so you move between styles easily; your report focuses on reading the situation.
Balanced means you lean strongly on one dimension but sit near the middle on the other.
If you gave almost every statement the same rating, we will suggest retaking the assessment, since the result may not reflect you.
Who sees what
Your manager sees your results first and walks through them with you in a one-on-one share session before you see them. Teammates only see a short card (your lead style, your secondary style and one tip) after your team completes the workshop. No one sees your individual answers.
What StyleFlex is not
It is not a test of ability, intelligence or job fit, and it must not be used for hiring, promotion, pay or discipline. Styles are preferences you can flex, not fixed labels.
About StyleFlex
StyleFlex is a guide and a self-reflection tool. It helps you notice how you prefer to communicate, how others prefer to communicate, and how to adjust so conversations take less effort for everyone. It is not a test and does not measure ability, personality or job fit.
